Friday, October 31, 2008

Well it happened...it had to happen...it was inevitable...and I could not care less. I turned 30 on Thursday and it was non-eventful. I have heard that some women have cried for week prior and after their big 3-0 and after turning it - I do not see why. Whatever. Onto bigger and better topics!

THAYER!!!!! His first adventure in trick or treating is tonight and i can't wait! We have a couple of the neighbors houses that we plan our little pirate to go to. Pictures will be posted soon. I know I always promise that and trust me, this time, I will do it! You have to see how cute he is. I will also post pictures from this years pumpkin patch!

I was having fun on the internet...the internet is fun!

Monday, October 13, 2008

I have a couple pictures! Hooray for me!

I was looking at my friend Jenny's blog and it reminded me that we need to do a pumpkin patch trip - I guess I kinda forgot b/c it is still averaging 90 degrees down here in this cesspool. But, we need to do a pumpkin patch run and get ready for Halloween. Speaking of, we tried on Thayer's costume on Saturday and he is so cute I can't stand it! I think that I will wait until the 31st to post pictures, so you will have to wait!

Rambling.

Gosh, how time totally flies. I have been at Coolhires for about 1.5 months, Thayer is almost 15 months old, and I am already prepping for Christmas! I am really not even thinking about the fact that I turn 30 in *gulp* 23 days....shit...I guess it will hit me a bit harder closer to the date. I need to try on Thayer's costume and make sure it fits before it is too late and we are forced to buy an over priced one from the Halloween store - not that I wouldn't! I also need to finish altering my costume to make a a bit more feminine. I am taking a man costume and making it a bit sexier, but still fresh and piratey. On the sewing note, I really need to fix Chris' back back for work. Sigh. On another sewing note, a new friend at my at the office (Christine) is starting to sew and it is so fun to see someone excited for it like I was. She had a birthday recently and I got her a couple of easy patterns - she is gonna be super fresh in the apron and dresses (maybe even the pant suit)! I can't wait to help her!
Chris just got back from Vegas (for work) and it reminded me how hard it must be to be a single mom and so happy that I will never have to do that. Zonks...it was a very long 5.5 days! While he was gone Thayer got his first pair of Stride Rites and some PJs - which it took me forever to find PJs for his age for some reason. Target had hidden them from me....foosh! I need to go back closer to Christmas and find some xmas PJs, b/c you can't stay up for Santa in non-xmas PJs. Shit, what kinda mom would that make me! haha. Thayer starts a new school that is closer to Chris and my work locals so hopefully my commute will go from 1.5 hours one way to 1 - I could totally deal with 1 hour one way.
It totally sounds like I was just bitching, but please note - perfectly happy. I have some excellent pics to post once I load them...stay tuned!

Well Family and Friends,

I know it has been a while, but the new job really does not allow for a lot of time to mess around on the internet and post to the blog. I actually have to work to earn my keep, and you know that I am loving it.

Thayer has been working on a little something for you - enjoy!!!

I know, I know...I need pictures posted. I am a bad bad mom. But a quick update on little man. List of words: thank you, potato, golf ball, cup, bottle (ba ba), more...we are working on "please" and of course; mama, dada and grandpa. We are still working on Osiris, Aunt and Grandma.

Excellent: FIRST STEPS were taken earlier this week. So so fun...I think that we are in trouble now!

More to come later and me hopes some pictures too!

Hugs to all!

Not that I am a huge reader of books, but I really enjoyed (and read in 2 nights) the book called Twilight that is being made into a movie this year. I am behind on the times as the book was released years ago. I was in love and read all ~500 pages in 2 nights. A young vampire in love with a human - oh yes. It was awesome. I am already trying to see when I can get to the store to pick up the next 3 books. For anyone that enjoys a good, relaxing and fast read I recommend this novel.

So, the books take place mainly in Forks, WA which is about 40+ miles west of where I lived in Washington. So I could imagine perfectly in my head the described surroundings of green, damp and cloudy. I must say, it kinda made me miss the NW. I miss the rain. Especially during this hot and dry summer that we are having in Texas - and I am sure it will roll into a hot and dry fall. Blech.

I just noticed that my last two posts were relating to vampires - do not be aghast - it was just pure happenchance.

Lost Boys: The Tribe.

I finally got to see the sequel for the lovely as ever Lost Boys movie. It was everything that I needed and wanted it to be and more. For those of you who know me well, you understand my enjoyment of vampire and zombie movies. Doing research in case we are ever infested and I must fight off infection - not really (but maybe...maybe...). But, for some reason, I really enjoy these movies - no matter how horrid they are. And let me tell you something, I have seen some exceedingly bad vampire and zombie movies.

But not last night! I had prepped myself for Lost Boys 2 (The Tribe) after seeing The Soup a couple weeks back that had a guest appearance from my favorite Corey. Oh Corey, look at you - all grown up and married! I was just tickled pink that they had you came back for the second as a surf board shaper and vampire hunter. I love it and loved it!
The movie was a little more sex-u-al and more bloody that I remember the original movie being, but seeing that the Corey's were so young back then - I guess for the fan base it had to be. I also very much enjoyed the brother of the older Sutherland! I really did not know what to expect, but I did enjoy him. He was creepy, but never too creepy. His hair looked a little greasy though - I always think that vampires should have clean coifs. But that is personal choice!

This movie makes me want to finish my zombie TV pilot - maybe Corey would take a part in it! It would be right up his alley! Much loves Corey!
Also, but never to ruin - there is a fun little cameo at the end, but sure to watch it and not turn your DVD player off too soon!

Random Post: Me, riding a horse in Seattle in June.

Yes it is a bit far away - but still, you get the notion of it all.

Update to first words blog entry.

I wanted to say, and ever so proudly, that Thayer is saying mama now. And again, not just babbling. But saying it as he crawls over to me or hangs to my leg as I wash dishes and have no hands to pick him up. It is very sweet and i just can't see where time has gone to. I am sure my friends are right though, I will, in about 2 months wished that he would un-learn it!

What a wonderful weekend in the ever too hot Breckenridge, Texas. I think that the temps topped out at 112 degrees, but when you are outside playing golf, it seems even hotter. Chris and his team made the championships and had we stayed longer yesterday evening we would have discovered that his team came in the money and was third. But, let me tell you. When it is 8:00 at night and you know that there is a 4 hour drive ahead of you with a 1 year old - you kind of just want to leave.

It was a lot different this year with Thayer present and not in a bad way. Usually we would be stuck places with no reason to leave. Like the town bar called Potters on Saturday night for the tournament dinner. BUT, we were told that Thayer could not stay past 9:00, seeing that it was in fact a bar! I am glad that we left when we did because I heard that right after we left, there was a bar fight. I kind of imagine a "Roadhouse" kind of thing with a blind man singing, chairs being thrown...and yes - I was told a beer bottle and pool cue came into play. A little bit different that what we are used to seeing in Austin, but this town is full of true Texans. Tight jeans, boots, hats and of course, giant belt buckles - and that is just the ladies! Not that I do not enjoy most of the people we see on this one weekend every year. Lance, Angela, Diane, Thomas, Mr. Weatherby...but I just get tired sometimes of - well - how do I say it...okay, really I do not have any reason to leave early other than I am tired and old. When the clock chimes 10, I am usually curled up in bed watching the history channel. I guess this one weekend every year could be the exception, but I do love sleep!

I really did miss caddying for Chris, usually I get to ride with him, clean balls, get water, help with clubs...I did not this year. Thayer and I went out with him Saturday morning for about 5 holes, but then it got to be Thayer's nap time and we headed back to the hotel. But, I must say that Thayer was perfect on the course and acted like a little gentleman. He also received numerous compliments on how well-behaved he was. Even one comment that we was quieter than the gallery of drunk ladies that were following the players around. Well done Thayer - well done!

All in all, it was a great weekend and we got to see all the people that we love to see! I am excited for next year when Thayer is old enough to get in a lot more trouble.

The stats are in! Thayer is still tall and still thin!

95% for height at 32 inches
25% for weight at 22 lbs 11 oz

My son is so big and strong!
First Words

Sigh, time is going by too too fast! He has said his first words and I have been holding off of deeming them first words for about 3 weeks. He says "dada" and "baba" and not just his garbled blabber foreign language that he has been speaking for months now. But, he is actually reaching for Daddy and say "dada" and holding up his bottle and asking for more by saying "baba." Sigh, he says mama every once in a while but never in reference to me - so it must be a fluke. He also will throw up his hands and say "Hazaa!" That he learned from me. :)

The other day I bought his Halloween costume and this year he is going to be a pirate! I guess I could have sewn his a costume like I did last year, but the Spartan was a lot easier and less time consuming. The costume was also like 50% off - how could I say no? This year for my 30th birthday I am having a pirate themed party. Usually it is just a costume party seeing that my birthday is the day before Halloween, BUT it is my 30th and I want everyone to be pirates. It is all about me - right Cody?

I am going to do some online shopping, when I have the funds, and buy a pirate flag to be flown from our house. Seeing the hoodlums that live a few houses down, I hope that it is not stolen b/c that would be just a little too ironic.

Anyways, Thayer has a doc appt and I will post his percentages later today! Me hopes that he has gained a healthily amount of weight so that I can stop worrying!

What a fun weekend, good times were had by all! We had, yet another, birthday party for Thayer and this time it was at home and with all his little daycare friends around. What I realized was - he has no little boy friends. none. All little girls. He had 7 little girls at the house playing with him on Saturday. SEVEN! no little boys. Chris and I are thinking that we will take him to one of those little baby play places like Gymboree (sp?) so that he can meet some boys. Not that he does not enjoy his girlfriends, but one day he will need boyfriends around to talk about his girlfriends :) Thayer got some excellent toys too, and we heard them all day on Sunday.
It is fun to watch him, as we slowly leave the room to pay attention to laundry or dishes, as he plays and laughs to himself. What a little man he is becoming. I look at pictures from a year ago and sit in wonderment at how different he looks, how much like a little person he is with thoughts and ideas of his own. What a great joy it is to be a parent. Best thing I have ever done. Greatest thing in my life!
This weekend we are off to Breckenridge, TX for the annual Cooper Brown Scholarship golf tournament. We missed last year because I was not able to be more than a hour away from the hospital, but we are excited for Thayer to meet more friends that he will see on a annual basis. It will be a change though that I usually caddie for Chris and this year I will not be able to. But, I am sure all the old stories will be told, songs will be sung and more memories made. I wonder if Mr. Weatherby is still alive, and if he is, will he share another Jack and Diet Coke with me. Boy, that man makes his drinks STRONG!

It is a sad sad day. Estelle Getty has passed away. My favorite Golden Girl. For the rest of the week in her remembrance I will wear a Miami moo-moo, wicker purse and large coke bottle glasses.

You will be missd, Estelle!

Monday, July 21, 2008

Well we are back from WV (pictures to follow later) and it seemed like it was a very long trip. Chris, Thayer and I got home yesterday at about 10:00AM - which I very much enjoyed having the afternoon at home and to putter around the house, do laundry and the whats-nots that you do when you return home. lately, I have been doing these things when it is 2:00AM after the family had been stuck in an airport all day.
During the trip you could tell that everyone was a bit moody at the end - we wanted to be home, Thayer wanted his own bed and Jenn and Brad wanted their home back. I think that maybe a full week was too long and next time we will stick to 4-5 days....before the fish starts to stink. Jenn is a wonderful mom and even though she was completely tired AND recovering from her C-section, she was a lovely hostess. Seeing Dad was brilliant and it seems that Thayer's first words might be "grandpa" - but will see. Mom and James came over a few days when they were not having to work and they even gave Thayer his first trikie for his birthday.

Did I forget to mention that we had 2 birthdays while we were there. Dad turned 52 on Tuesday and Thayer turned the big ole ONE on Friday. Thayer had cake twice - once with Grandma and James and once with the rest of the family. Ummm, yea...sugar is no good! That little boy would just stand up and squeal for about 2 hours straight as loud as he could, then he would laugh b/c it was funny to him to see us all plug our ears. I told my mom that he was really tiring with being everywhere all the time and she said wait until he walks really well - which the family thinks is about a month away. My friend Jenny's baby is a little over a month older than Thayer and is starting to walk - it looks like a very exciting time and I just can't wait to see our little man doing the same.

We have Thayer's first birthday party for family and friends in Austin this weekend at the house and that will make a total of three parties for little man's first birthday. I am going today at lunch to buy his birthday presents and I just can't decide what to get him. Chris and I were thinking about this work bench and tools at Target, but I need to check the age approval range of it. Babyzone.com said that the best gifts for 12-18 months are kitchens and work benches...do like mommy and daddy do...so we will see!
Just a little blasty blast from the past...I do not know where this year went! Here that silly ole T Dog (as Auntie Jenny calls him) from a full year ago! Good grief, that was officially the FASTEST year of my life!

TOMORROW! TOMORROW! TOMORROW!

I get to see my sister tomorrow and her little baby boy! I am excited to see her in a whole new light, which is as a mommy. I am sure that she is awesome at it, but still it is a sister that I have never "met" before...and I am excited!

Posting might not be for a while as I visit with family. It will be a great week next week with meeting Bauer, Dad's birthday and then Thayer's first birthday! There will be TONS of photos! I just can't wait. Now, fingers crossed that Continental does not fuck up any more of our travel plans then they already have! That reminds me, I need to write my letter to them. BOO! After this trip, I will never book with them again!

I really do love my friends. I have this excellent group of work buddies that go to happy hour about once a month and it always ends up being happy hourS more that just a couple of calm drinks where you talk about work and eat hot wings.

It is kinda like this: remember that group of friends when you were in high school that would pass notes all day about the party that night? Then, once you all would get to the party you would only hang out with each other and then chat it up about who is dating who and what kissing what-his(or her)-face was like. All the while, totally ignoring the rest of the party b/c you and this group of people felt that the night could not get any better. You were the group of people that everyone would come up to and tell you how "totally cool and awesome" you were and all you could do was agree. Then, ultimately, someone's parents would call and everyone would ohh and ahhh about being in trouble, but inside you really hoped that one of your besties was not grounded. yeah, the happy hour gang is like that.

Last night was totally fun and we had all the right characters present. We had the shy girl (or seemingly shy) that comes into her own once she has a few drinks in her and then shocks the shit outta you with the awesomely stupendous comments. You have the crazy party girl with the heart of gold. The one that would bend over backward for a friend and who would totally have your back in a fight (even though she is only 5 feet tall). You have the token dude, that is the dude's dude and all other dudes look to and say "how did he get so cool - I wanna be cool?" The one that somehow is so randomly cool that he wears sun glasses inside and walks likes he knows something that no one else knows. Finally, there is the entertainer, always ready with a joke, story or quick jig - anything to make the friends laugh. She is the one that every one mistakes for being an attention hog and the case is really that...well...she is an attention hog.

A perfect mix. The perfect group. The perfect time.

Here is our babysitter who found our camera while we were out for Chris' birthday on Saturday! I think she has a career in store for her!

We love her! Let us know if you need a great sitter....just hide your camera, rock band mic and lock your computer! :)

Thayer's First Haircut!
Well, we all knew that his hair was getting a little long. But, I totally loved those little curls - they were the only thing that looked like me on the baby that I carried and bore for all those months. Well, he was beginning to look a little "Hippie-ish" and so we took him into the Snip-its on Sunday for his first hair cut. He did really well until she started the clippers on him. The very smart stylist gave him a sucker that really distracted him from the buzzing all around his head. He did not mind the scissors at all and smiled when she was doing it.
Thayer Before the Cut - (notice how the hair is curling into his ears)

Thayer During the Cut (he loved his stylist Brittany)

Thayer After the Cut (he is saying "Where did my hair go?")

On another note, Thayer is now trying to put clothes on by himself - even thought he is getting is all wrong - we applaud and encourage him all the way! Well done baby! Well done!

Countdown to WV - 5 days!

Some Seattle Photos!

The trip to see grandpa was WONDERFUL and we had a fun time at Laura's (whose name is now deemed "LB" to Thayer). Thayer really did enjoy the ranch but it took a while, eventually he enjoyed the horses and even the dogs.
On Thursday night, we went over to Pat and Dan's and were able to see Great Grandpa Walters - who Thayer is named after. We took a lot of photos while at Uncle Dan's but not all will be posted straight away - I need to load them into the computer. BUT, below is a picture of Thayer, Grandpa and Great Grandpa Thayer! I love this picture for some reason, I think that it will soon be printed out and hung in the hallway!

The weather was a little hotter than i would have liked in Seattle (Ravensdale) this past weekend and even hit the mid 90s. I guess I was just hoping for some drizzle and gloom...which was a no go. What we did get to do was play on REAL grass (not this hard Texas stupid ole crap grass) and we played for a couple hours a day outside on the fluffy, soft, green Washington grass! Below is a picture of Grandpa and Thayer! This sight was seen many a times over the long weekend! Those two playing together was a highlight of the trip!

More pics to come from the Seattle trip later this week!

Countdown to WV - 10 DAYS!

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

Bauer has arrived! For all those readers who knew that my sister was due...Bauer arrived last Friday, June the 27th! He was a nice 9lbs 4 oz and 21 inches long. Jenn and he are already home and baby time has begun...fun!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Round Rock Express baseball games are fun! Chris and I have always thought so and so we begin the tradition of taking Little Man to the games. This was his second trip to the Express and last time he did not have that fun of a time sitting in the seats, so this time we went all out and bought the cheapest seats on the berm. (grass)

We started the evening eating up some delicious sandwiches and fries and watched kids throw fast balls, jump on moon walks and play basketball! I think that Little Man is anxious to get out there and play with the big kids...it will happen sooner than we think! We then found some front row seats on the berm (nice) and Thayer liked watching the players warm up. Little Man liked this time at the game more that the past and I think it is because he was able to crawl and sit on the families above us blanket. He enjoyed rolling down the hill, playing with the children and eating grass. Lovely. The Express games are definitely FUN and we will go back to the grass! Maybe next time Auntie Julia and Kelly can come too! I know how much Julia enjoys a nice Express Game! Maybe next time it will not be 105 degrees at 7:00 PM! Wishful thinking indeed!

COUTNDOWN TO GRANDPA - ONE DAY! HAHZAA!

Monday, June 23, 2008

The new desk and chair. I think that Thayer likes his new digs in his room - see him in the pictures below working up an excel spreadsheet for his mommy and daddy!

His next action item is a PowerPoint presentation on what he wants for xmas from Santa!

Is it really possible that Thayer is getting more and more cute everyday? This weekend we played hard! His new favorite games are chasing a golf ball along the kitchen floor after he throws it and also sitting and knocking pool balls in on the pool table!

I think that he is also learning the word "no" b/c he keeps telling it to me when I tell him to get off the back of the couch! Oh dear lord, please do not let his first word be "no"....

He popped out that toofie #7 this weekend and chewed on everything he could to get it out - even Mommies old soda bottles! Not any fussing about it...that is our BIG BOY!

Count down to GRANDPA - 2 days!

Thursday, June 19, 2008

I love feeling useful in the evening other than just a load of laundry or making dinner. As you know, I put together his toy box 2 nights ago and last night, I put together one of his little chairs that we bought him! He seemed to enjoy it and sat watching the Family Guy (he loves the singing and bright colors!) like a big boy for about 15 minutes!

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Hahzaa! Thayer is 11 months old today! Hahzaa!

It is a sad day, but this evening I am putting away Thayer's changing table and replacing it with a toy box that I put together last night. We probably have not used the table in about 2 months - ever since his legs have hung over the side - and it is time that we used the space for other things. I think that I will move the table into his closet so that we can have some extra storage. Another sad part is that the table's shelves are full of little cute baby things that he does not use - reminding me ever so much of how fast he is growing!

On another note, tooth #7 is showing just under the gum and that little sucker is gonna pop any down now - followed by #8! He is going to be eating ribs with us any day now!

ONE WEEK UNTIL WE SEE GRANDPA!!!! I think that Thayer will enjoy the cool weather in Enumclaw and the horses! Now, I just need to find Thayer some long pants as he does not wear his in this 105 degree heat!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Thayer's first Father's Day was a real special one. We woke up Daddy around 9:00 and the fun begun. Mainly the day was spent relaxing on the sofa and watching the US Open, but we went to eat lunch at Pluckers (yummy wings) and I made dinner at night (Julia's meatloaf - delish). I think that the best part of the day was wing we all played with or golf clubs in the game room. Little man even smacked his ball around the room in excellent style. Chris and I imagine that this photo will be shown as he is winning the Open, Masters - or other major golfing event!

Thursday, June 12, 2008

I know. I know. I took a little break. Opps! but I am back now - sorry about that to all my readers, but life has been a bit foggy. I promise to get some photos of little man posted as soon as I load them into the computer! Thayer is almost 11 months old and is excited for his cousin Bauer that should be here soon!

Hugs to everyone!

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Well, I just noticed that it has been about 2 months since i posted last - work has been really stressful and when I head home at night the minutes are all consumed!

Update on the little man. Thayer is a little over 7 months old. He is about 19 pounds and 30 inches long. He has 2 teefies and really likes to crawl! He is pulling himself up on anything and everything that he can grab, but sadly does not know how to get down, so he will fall on his tookis rather often!

Monday, January 07, 2008

Sorry. Folks are mad with me for not posting as often as I should. But it has been tough these days with busy work and the holidays. BUT, we are through that and back on track at work and home (once I get all the laundry folded and put up - but I never do). Thayer's first Christmas was lovely and we had a wonderful time opening gifts. We found a wonderful santa at Lakeline mall. As I was walking in, I was telling Thayer that if this santa was torn up with bourbon on his breath, a fake beard that was falling off and holes in his suit that we WERE not seeing him. I was really shocked at the coolness of this santa and he was everything that we needed him to be! He even sang "Jingle Bells" to Thayer while we were sitting there! GREAT SANTA!
Thayer could not get enough of the presents - leading up to xmas he had partially opened or drooled on about 75% of them. Well done! One night as we were have naked time (from 7:30PM-7:50PM nightly) he was all up in the gifts; pulling off bows, trying to eat the paper...and drooling (per the norm)...he liked on bow specially. With a bit of cencorship - below is a picture of little man and his favortie bow. How cute is my son....really?!!?! DERN IT. The system is slow and will not let me load. I will try again later this week.

On another note, Thayer is doing a makeshift crawl right now and cutting his first tooth. Poor dear. He is turning 6 months on Jan the 18th. Daddy took off so that he could take him to the golf course to show him off!
