28 Week Old Alien?

Okay, so it is not really an alien that you would see in the movies...but we are starting to see the belly moving and shaking from the outside. By no means do you look down and see the outline of a hand pushing out - which I have seen before and it gives me the willies - but the ripples do make me giggle.

Sad news from Tuesday night. Our childbirth instructor decided, after 10 years of teaching, to sell her company to another RN that she works with. It was a sad goodbye for her, but she said that she could not have had a better class to end with. When leaving, she stopped Chris and I and told us that we had made the class for her. Probably his class clown antics that she loved and then she told me that I was a very strong woman and childbirth should be easy for me. It was nice to hear it from someone else. She also asked that we call her when Thayer is born and we guaranteed that would happen. A selfish thought snuck into my head at this point b/c I was given the choice b/t May classes and April classes. Had I been lazy and pushed it out, Chris and I would be classless and that thought frightened me! But, everything worked out in the end!

On another note! Just few more days until my family is here for the baby shower this weekend! It will be fast upon us! The plans seem pretty solid for the 5 days that they are here and Chris and Brad will enjoy several rounds of golf, happy hours and Gears of War on the xbox! We finished the babies room this weekend, except for a few tidbits here and there - but nothing big! Just a few more weeks and I will begin prepping the hospital bag, but right now I do not want to move it b/c it is Osiris' second bed and he looks so cute in it!
News on another note, I found out this weekend that my cousin Sarah is expecting a little boy and they will name him Vincent (my dad thinks). Excellent news b/c last I had heard she had lost a baby mid last year! CONGRATS to cousin Sarah!
That is it for now! Hugs to everyone!

Lovely Update

Family and Friends!

Nothing much is new from the land of the McCully's. Chris had some urgent oral surgery that caused a delay in the progress of the babies room - so we are working doubly hard to get it finished by May the 3rd! But, there was no way I was going to let him alone with a circular saw while doped up in vicodin!

After the camping trip this past weekend we came home totally sun-burn and exhausted, but still had enough in us to do a little work and it is looking wonderful - so says me! After a bit more paint touch ups this evening I will probably be able to place furniture in proper locations and start the wall decor. I have purchased the fabric to make the curtains - so those go in the works Wednesday or Thursday. Making them will be a lot less than buying and i get something that I want this way! I am excited to see the final product - I hope Thayer will enjoy it as much as me!

Had the sugar test this morning including lab draws as well as the Rh- shot. I am still shaky and queasy from the sugar test, but the doc says that if I react the less chance that it will turn out to be positive. My thought here is that a couple weeks back in prego class a woman was complaining about how much the Rh- shot hurt. Ummmm....can I say that it did not hurt one bit and that woman is going to have one heck of a time actually popping her kid out! It was a pull em down, relax and no worries! That prego woman is in for a treat when it comes to labor - I think!

All else is well on the baby side and I am counting down the days to the baby shower! REMINDER: it is on the 5th of May!

HUGS!

Second Prego Class

Update from Prego Class!

Well, we learned and practiced two kinds of breathing last night in the class and Chris and I are not certain if we will use it or need to use it. I think he will be asking for me to have the epi even before I go into labor! We also discussed what each stage of labor looks/feels like. Am I learning a lot yes - will I remember during the labor ... that is anybodies guess!

Next week - meds!

Focus Item?

It has been nearly a week since I was given the assignment of bringing the Focus Item to the prego class tomorrow night. I thought long and hard about it too. I did not want a stuffed animal or something cheesy - that might work for some women, but not me. I wanted something that would make me feel powerful and strong. Then I remembered a recent movie that I saw that I totally loved the leading lady in and quoted her for weeks following! Queen Gordo from 300! I could totally do this! She had so many famous quotes - one that history said she actually said "Only Spartan women give birth to men!" LOVE IT! So I started saying that "I give birth to Spartan men!" I felt strong. So that is it - some might think it stupid, but I will create a focus object from her! Below it what I created from the movie! ENJOY!

Update from First Prego Class

We all should have guessed it - I was the nerdo in the class that knew all the answers and my precious hubby was the class clown. When in the past have these two decided to hook up? Class clown and the nerdo. I think that the class will be very informative! We looked at when to call the doctor/go to the hospital in the first class, is my water breaking, and watched a video of a woman in labor and then delivery.

Strangely, out of 15 couples that attend the class, all but 2 couples are having boys. Everyone expect one woman we call CSI (b/c she looks like Catherine Willows) is really very nice. CSI just sits there the whole time and pulls a face whenever Chris or I say something. She will have to watch out b/c I am not afraid to ask what her problem is!

Homework: bring in focus item to begin the floor work next week. Now, i just need to decide what my focus item is as Osiris is not allowed in the hospital!

Until next time!

Pic of Momma - Week 24 and 4 Days

A lot of family and friends have been asking after a recent photo of me. So attached is a photo of me from last night in front of a tex-mex restaurant's fountain! I tried to pull my shirt a little tighter to give you a good feel of the baby pooch. This is at 24 weeks and 4 days or 6+ months. I can't believe that we only have 115 days to go until another McCully is at Le Pomme de Terre!

24 Weeks and 3 Days!

Just a quick update for the family and friends on the health of Thayer and momma. After the appointment today we finally saw his face - actually they would not let us leave until they had seen his face b/c they needed to check out some of the details. They also looked at the heart and counted the valves and all looks excellent. Thayer is right on track measuring at 24 weeks and 3 days. It is hard to believe that Chris and I will have a baby in about 3.5 months! Time is flying really quickly! My health is good and my blood pressue was about 116/something or other with about 14 pounds gained total and being in the 6 month we are on track. However, I feel I have gained a bit much so I am going to eat less french fries and more salads. Chris and I are also walking a mile to 2 a few times a week.

Tomorrow night we begin the pregnancy classes for the full month of April that includes breathing/relaxation and seemingly several videos (yuck). I will post another blog to let folks know how that is going.

We have painted part of the nursery with only the edging remaining - me hopes that we can work on that this weekend. Then we can work on the chair rail and then the decor! My hope is to still have it done by the May 5th baby shower!

I promise I will post a photo soon of me - just need to actually do it! Maybe tonight after work, but to be honest probably not!

Hugs!
